الأولُ أنتَ في كُلِّ شَيءٍ، و أينَما كُنتَ .. وقبلَ كلِّ أحَد
كُلُّ السَّواترِ تَقودُ إلى عُمرِك الُمشاعِ
مُتحَفُ أزَمَاتِكَ عامرٌ بالسُّواحِ والمُنتَفعينَ
وتَكتظُّ بِصورِكَ أعمِدةُ النُّورِ
شَهيدَاً ، ومَخطُوفاً ، وذَبيحَاً ، ومَغدورَاً ، ومَفقُودَاً ، و…
غالٍ أنْتَ كمَدِينَتِكَ الحَلُوبِ
بَحرُكَ لَهُم ، وخزائنُ ترابِكَ لَهُم
و يُسبغُ عَليكَ أخوتُكَ الألقابَ والكُنَى
فأنْتَ (الشُّروقي)* ، وابنُ المُحَافَظاتِ
ومِلحُ مَودَّتِهم أفسَدَ زَرعَكَ.
هذِهِ طِينتُكَ
عَلى طَرفِ لسانِك قلبُكَ ورُوحُك
تَفرشُ عَيناً لضَيفكِ ، وتُغطِّيهِ بالأخرَى
وتَنامُ فِي ظلِّ نَخلتِكَ العَطشَى سَعيدَاً

باذِخَ المَحبّةِ تَبقَى .. لعَالَمٍ جَحُودٍ

* الشروقي: من اللهجة الدراجة في العراق. اختلفت آراء الباحثين في اللهجات حول أصلها ومعناها، غير أن البعض استعملها لقباً للقادم من المحافظات الجنوبية لا سيّما الآتي من الشرق وبمعنىً لا يخلو من الدونية. تشير المعلومات إلى أنّ الإستعمار الأول قد استخدمها.
The Southerner
The poem is written in modern Arabic. It talks about a countryman who lives in southern Iraq. Despite their generosity at all levels and the homage to the homeland, the prejudice against the southerners, especially countryside people, by the majority persists. Ali Al-Budairi, a PhD holder, illustrates the issue:
You are the first
Wherever you are
A museum of your crisis visited by foreigners
(…)
You are the martyr
You are the kidnapped
You are the betrayed
(…)
You are the “Sherougui”*
(…)
The destiny is:
The devotion is rewarded by denial
*A pun of “Shrougui” is still in use to humiliate southerners and countryside people.
In fact, the word “Shrougui” itself is derived from the word “East”. It was originally used by the first occupiers of Iraq and is a derogatory term for countryside people.
