The Coinage and Afterlife of Serendipity ~ السِّرنديبيَّة: سيرةُ كلمة
Walpole drew on The Three Princes of Serendip, a tale he described as “silly,” whose heroes repeatedly made discoveries “by accident and sagacity” while pursuing other aims. His formulation was both economical and precise: discovery arising from accident and sagacity in the course of pursuing something else (Remer, 1965).
