Truth distorted lay awash,
A single act do they emboss,
In minds of narrow, tinted hues,
Swayed are they by biased views.
But damsels in distress we are!
Beneath modest of veils, and scarves,
Such stifling shrouds, we cannot breathe,
We cannot speak, we cannot leave.
We set the victuals, and tend to feasts,
We serve repast, and dress the meats.
Trinkets void of power, of use,
Forget thou not, we bear in profuse.
Worry, we have not reason for,
With knights of armor by our doors,
Though they lay husbands to a four,
“He loves me truly, he loves me more.”
Our trills are hushed and quelled by he,
Who knows far more than she and she,
Our wings acut, laments unheard,
We only yearn to roam, revered.
Minarets ahigh, Imams they guide,
Calls to prayer, our people abide,
Though we claim it warrants silence,
Nay, verily not, it reeks of violence.
Let not ignorance be thy guide,
For many a people, hast thou denied,
Thine promise still, the truth awaits,
Break it not, and do make haste.
Alas, they will, they shall, they must,
Be woken as the motes of dust,
Cease to shroud that which they see,
“Awake, we are!”, they shout with glee.
في غياهبِ عقولٍ ضيِّقةٍ
تنزوي الحقيقةُ شَوهاء
تميلُ بها الأهواءُ العمياء
حائراتٌ نحنُ تحتَ الحُجُب
نختنقُ في تلك الأكفانِ
لا نجرؤُ على الشَّكوى أو البكاء
دَورُنا أن نَمدَّ الموائدَ ونُطعمَ الرَّبْع
ما نحن سوى حُليٍّ بلا قوَّةٍ أو دفعٍ
نحملُ الهمَّ والحزنَ جمعاً
وكـأنَّنا خُلِقنا للشَّقاء.
أفكارُنا… ما نفعُها؟
عقولُنا… ما لنا والكدَر؟
قواريرُ نحنُ
على أبوابِنا الفرسانُ حُماةُ القَدَر
يدفعونَ البلاء.
أنَّاتنا مكتومةٌ لا تسمعُ لها صوتاً ولا صدى
أجنحتُنا مقصوصةٌ ونحلمُ بالمَدى…
وهْمٌ يتوهَّمُه الواهمون
بل غباء!
انظرْ إلى المآذنِ تشمخُ في الأفقِ البعيد
اسمعِ الدَّاعي يهدي إلى الطَّريق السَّديد
ويُرجف المرجفون: إنَّها دعوةٌ بين طيَّاتِها العنفُ والوعيد.
هذا قولُهم فاحذرْهُم!
لا تدَعِ الجهلَ يَشدُّكَ إلى متاهات
فالحقُّ بَيِّنٌ لا تحجبُه ظُلُمات
سيصحو النَّاسُ وينفضونَ عن عيونِهم الغبار
ولن تحجِبَ الشَّمسَ أستار
إن تتعجَّلِ الحُكمَ تسقُطْ في شَرَك الأباطيل
فاحذر!
