Hanan A. Zahroun does not only have an artistic perspective, but a humanistic one as well. During her tour of Holland where she lives, her camera caught the following images, and she gives us written information about a historical place, Sint-Paulusسنت پاولوس hospital located in Sina Oedenrode in the province of Noord-Brabant southern Holland.
In the fifteenth century, married couples who did not have children donated some part of their wealth to charity. Thanks to them the guest house existed to accommodate permanently poor and unmarried women of impeccable character. That was Die Swert-Van Erp condition to donate some of their wealth to the charity. Seven homes were converted to hospital where the residents were maintained by the proceeds of its backyard farmhouse. Added to that they offered work to the women in the hospital.
The guest house was renovated several times during the sixteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries. It changed from hospital to guest house and is nowadays a tourist office and museum. This has been so since the last renovation and restoration, carried out between 1974-1975. The grounds at the back of the building are used as a herb garden.
This was a great idea to help vulnerable and admirable women. We really hope it would be taken into consideration worldwide.
مضيف سنت پاولوس
في تنقلاتها، تلتقط حنان عجيل زهرون صوراً من هنا وهناك لا تسجّل فيها اهتماماتها الفنية وحسب؛ بل، وحسّها الإنساني أيضاً.
ها هي تلتقط بكاميرتها هذا المَعلَم التاريخي وتزوّدنا بهذه اللقطات لدار ضيافة سنت پاولوس في قرية سنت أودنرود الواقعة في مقاطعة شمال-برابانت الواقعة جنوب هولندا.
في القرن الخامس عشر كان على المتزوجين الذين لا ينجبون التبرع بنسبة من أموالهم إلى الفقراء فقام السيد دي شڤرت ڤان أرپ وزوجته بالتّبرّع بجزءٍ من أملاكهما صدقةً جارية لحماية الفقيرات العفيفات من البنات والسيدات المطلقات. شملت الأملاك المتبرّع بها سبعة بيوت في حديقة سنت پاولوس لتحويلها إلى مستشفى مع حديقة خلفية لزراعة الأعشاب والخضروات للاستفادة من منتجاتها. وما أرقّ المساعدة إذ قام الزّوجان بتوفير المقيمات للعمل بالمستشفى كذلك حسب رغبتهنّ دون أن يكنّ مجبرات على القيام به.
وعلى مرّ الزّمن تمّ صيانة الدار (المستشفى) وتجديدها لا سيّما في القرن السادس عشر ثمّ القرنبن التاسع عشر والعشرين على التوالي فتطوّرت من مستشفى إلى دار ضيافة حتى أصبحت في آخر المطاف مركزاً للسياحة يضمّ معرضاً فنياً في قسمٍ منه كما تستخدم حديقته لزراعة الأعشاب.
وبهذا تظلّ أسطورة الدار تذكّرنا بكلَّ عملٍ جميل يخدم الإنسانية.
