Of Leonardo da Vinci by Elaine Mitchener

A woman reads and reflects upon Leonardo da Vinci’s notebooks in this provocative performance.

Of Leonardo da Vinci explores the universality of death and rebirth by melding vocal improvisation, sound art, image and movement.

Elaine Mitchener and director Dam Van Huynh collaborate to develop David Toop’s music and libretto, with film by Barry Lewis. Together they push the boundaries of opera, testing emotional extremes both vocally and physically, drawing audiences into a uniquely intimate realm of disturbing beauty.

Of Leonardo da Vinci was commissioned by Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival, and the original concept was supported by Fondazione Claudio Buziol (Venice) and Muziektheater Transparant (Antwerp), in collaboration with Teatro Fondamenta Nuove (Venice).
