Pilgrimage from Iraq: A Christian Woman’s Journey from Mesopotamia to the Court of Queen Victoria

Emily Porter

Maria tells us in a very simple but elegant language and in an honest manner the account of living in the nineteenth century under an oppressive, repressive and aggressive regime and in an environment where you could be prosecuted just for being different. This book demonstrates how people and mainly women where discriminated against but still managed to survive and fight back. It is inspirational, emotional, romantic with no love story as such. Love of life and fighting for principles.
