Synopsis
The poem travels between love and anger, forces of nature and birds always around, to give a sense of how much of these emotions lives within, in contradiction at times, both heartening and terrifying.
The birds know
I have a vast love that holds so much
that even the clouds marvel in terror
at what it covers and would like to cover
a love so tender, so strong, and lively
that it makes the birds sing
and all the winds blow
sometimes in fury, other times in peace
I have a great rage that covers so much
that even the winds take shelter
in what it covers and refuses to cover
an angry rage, such a torrent of waterfall
that it makes the birds fly
in fright, and the winds
blow in tornadoes and whirlwinds
My love and my rage live in my body
like red and white blood cells
like revolutionary platelets
like viruses, bacteria and other bugs
they seek each other, find each other, fight
like magpies, blackbirds, and doves
and they kill and die and live in my blood
My love is immense and encompasses so much
my rage is gigantic and covers the mystery
my blood It expands, hidden,
and while my pen writes it,
The birds, each one their own,
flutter around asking questions,
and I, lovingly, search for them and their wisdom
